2020 Fall Virtual Concert: Nevertheless, We Persist

Sunday, Dec. 20, 2020 at 5:00 pm

  • Please plan to join the CPWC for its first Virtual Concert! The program will last approximately a half hour featuring three pieces we prepared this fall, a couple favorites from concerts past, and more!
  • The concert will debut on the CPWC Facebook page on Sunday, December 20, at 5:00 pm. It will be free to view, but donations to the chorus will be gratefully received - so we can continue to bring you top-tier musical performance and production, giving voice to our community!
  • We encourage you to grab your favorite snack and beverage, get super comfy (yes - a concert where you can eat and wear pjs!), tune in to the CPWC Facebook page and enjoy the music and the message.
  • Please feel free to share the concert info with your friends and family. If you are on Facebook, and if you haven't already, you can invite folks to the event directly by accessing the event page at https://www.facebook.com/events/665436810793378

A Note from Our President and Artistic Director

Please know that we are thinking of you and we hope you are staying well during these difficult times. We also want to let you know you of a few changes that have become necessary due to the COVID-19 outbreak:

  1. The Spring 2020 Concert, "Glitter and Be Gay," has been rescheduled to Fall 2021.
  2. Voices United and Pride have been cancelled.
  3. The Chorus' Annual Spaghetti Dinner will not be held this year.
  4. Our Fall 2020 Concert, "Who Tells Your Story," a commemoration of the 100th Anniversary of Women's Right to Vote, was scheduled for November 21-22, 2020. We are working on finding a way to rehearse together safely so we can present a musical recognition of this important milestone in some format.

Patrons and lovers of the arts, it is with heavy hearts that we bring you this letter. Due to the uncertainty in the upcoming months, we have come together as leaders of this organization to make these decisions with the utmost care and regard for your health and safety, and the health of all of our members.

We began our rehearsals in January of this year with excitement and expectation, not knowing what turn of events would soon befall us. Members of CPWC have been meeting virtually and will continue to do so, working diligently in order to come back together stronger than ever.

Pablo Picasso once said that "the purpose of art is washing the dust of daily life off our souls..." We promise each and every one of you, that when we meet again, we will wash away the dust of these dark months with glorious music and celebration. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your continued support, and we look forward to seeing you again soon.

The Central Pennsylvania Womyn's Chorus

The Central Pennsylvania Womyn's Chorus brings together a diverse group of women, united by the joy of singing, to celebrate and empower women and to affirm a positive image of lesbians and feminists.

We strive for musical excellence in a wide range of styles, including classical, folk, jazz, a cappella, chants and rounds, show tunes and popular songs of most decades of the twentieth century, and music recently composed.

Our concerts offer a safe and enjoyable environment for lesbians, feminists, gay men, human rights supporters, lovers of choral music, and our families, friends and neighbors to come together and celebrate our diversity as well as our common goals.
