Chorus Accolades

We have often received warm congratulations from our audience after our concerts, but when we received these glowing emails following our Spring 2006 WomanSpirit concert, we realized it was time to share them. Thanks to the writers for giving us permission.

From a woman who had never heard us before:

Ohmigosh! This was THE most incredible concert!!!!!! The women literally sang their hearts (and souls!!!) out. It went beyond mere performance. I am still in awe. Congratulations, ladies for the risk and the blessings. Thank you. Namaste.

Beth

Hi Giesala-

I just had to let you know how marvelous your concert was on Saturday. I attended & enjoyed it immensely (had to slip off home to bed just before the end). You were incredibly fun to watch - I love how you lead & inspire & infuse the singers with your whole body; you are so talented.

Please let the chorus know that our minister, Richard, and assistant minister, Sharon, & myself were so impressed with their performance....the selections, the moving narratives, the artwork, the dance...it was such a rich and meaningful mix. I personally loved the variety of songs, the costuming, the entry with drums; and I related to every piece of dialogue. You all enriched and expanded your audience's experience of our own spirituality, as well as helping us understand and respect the special challenges of the lesbian community. Thank you for the gift of your talent, for the laughter and tears you brought us. Please come back again, as soon as possible

Many blessings to you all, and special congratulations for a job well done, Giesala. I'm so happy for you that you are using your gift in such a compelling way. Goddess is shining through you.

Hugs,
Kate

From a singer's brother

I attended your 5/6/06 concert with my mom (Lucy T is my sister), and we were both extremely impressed.

As a contentedly single heterosexual, there's not always a lot I can connect with in your concerts. This one, however, was a completely different matter. I grew up Unitarian, and partly from that, if I want to go to church I go biking a long ways on York's Heritage Rail Trail (has its own natural cathedral ceilings for miles in many stretches). While monotheistic, I have plenty of warmth and appreciation for the often rather beautiful Pagan idea of spirits representing parts of the world in all imaginable and unimaginable ways, a concept several times older than Christianity. Being recycled by Nature into, over infinite time, part of a deer, a tree and infinite other such wonderful things after my death I consider a wonderful and beautiful thing I sincerely believe in.

[This was] gutsy, honest subject matter performed so stunningly well.

Thank you for putting your all into that concert. I've been to half a dozen at least and this was certainly the most gripping of any. "Guide Me" floored me (everything possible was indeed extracted from every syllable), "Jerusalem of Gold" was
incredible, and "I'm Not Afraid" really needs to be sung just as you sang it right smack in the middle of the Oval Office, the House of Representatives and the Senate, with all office-holders attending.

"Earth My Body" was awe-inspiring, also speaking directly to my true respect for any attempt to live in some harmony with Nature. Lee was amazing in her communicating the song via dance, like some white-robed apparition in an ancient holy rite.

Without droning on further, the subject of your concert was a very welcome breath of honest fresh air. The performance itself was absolutely outstanding (and clearly from the heart), more involving than any other concert I've attended.
